Bison Rowing Team Prepares for Eastern Sprints
The Bucknell Bison rowing team is heading to Worcester, Massachusetts, for the IRA Women’s Eastern Sprints on Sunday, May 3rd. This event is one of the biggest regattas in the Northeast.
Bucknell will race three eights and one four on Lake Quinsigamond. This competition is crucial as it’s the last official event before the Patriot League Championships, which take place in two weeks in New Jersey.

Looking Ahead
Races like these highlight the importance of teamwork and strategy in rowing. According to experts, success in rowing relies on the synchrony of the crew rather than individual speed. This is especially true at major events like the Eastern Sprints.
Coach Sarah Johnson once said, “The rhythm and flow are as important as strength. Each member’s role matters.” This emphasis on teamwork echoes throughout the sport, showcasing how every team member’s contribution drives performance.
With the Patriot League Championships approaching, the Bison are eager to carry their momentum into the final stretch of the season. Fans and alumni alike are excited as they anticipate watching the team compete at their best.
