Ryan Gosling Drops Out of Highly Anticipated Film from ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’ Directors: What It Means for Fans

Ryan Gosling has stepped away from his upcoming film with the Oscar-winning directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, known as Daniels. This was confirmed by Variety. The reason? A scheduling conflict.

The film was originally set for release on June 12, 2027, but Universal shifted it to November 19, 2027. Kwan and Scheinert planned to begin filming later this summer in Los Angeles, yet they couldn’t adjust their timeline to fit Gosling’s packed schedule. His calendar has been busy thanks to the global press tour for “Project Hail Mary,” a sci-fi film that has taken off success-wise.

Despite this setback, Gosling is still slated to star in “Star Wars: Starfighter,” directed by Shawn Levy, set to release in 2027. His recent project, “Project Hail Mary,” has been a massive hit, raking in $80 million domestically and $334 million worldwide since its opening weekend in March.

Kwan and Scheinert first gained attention with “Swiss Army Man,” a quirky comedy about a flatulent corpse. Their latest film, “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” achieved great success, earning over $100 million and winning seven Oscars, including Best Picture.

Gosling’s departure aligns with a trend in the film industry where scheduling conflicts often arise, particularly for high-profile actors. With the film landscape constantly changing, adapting to new timelines is crucial for directors and actors alike.

Kwan, Scheinert, and producer Jonathan Wang continue to collaborate under their Playgrounds production banner. They recently supported “The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist,” released by Universal’s Focus Features.

This news has sparked discussions online, with fans sharing their excitement for Gosling’s other projects while expressing disappointment at missing him in this particular film. Universal has yet to comment on Gosling’s exit.
