Meanwhile, Morgan Tuffs and Sophia Cunningham also claimed a victory with a matching score. The third pairing of Emma Marais and senior Kelly Dowuona wrapped things up with a solid 6-2 win.

In singles play, Saint Francis continued their winning streak. Chichkina led the way with a 7-5, 6-1 victory. Dowuona followed suit, defeating her opponent 6-4, 6-3. Helena Lynn dominated her match at 6-0, 6-4, while Reagen Mangan delivered a flawless performance with a 6-1, 6-0 result. Tuffs and Marais finished off the win with scores of 7-5, 6-1 and 6-2, 6-1, respectively.

Looking ahead, the team will face the LIU Sharks next Saturday at Gorilla House Gym at 5 p.m.

In addition to their strong performance, it’s worth noting that women’s college tennis has seen an increase in participation rates over the past few years. Recent data indicates that women’s tennis programs on college campuses have grown by over 20% since 2015. This surge is not just about numbers; it reflects a positive trend towards increasing opportunities for female athletes.

Overall, St. Francis is not just winning; they are part of a broader movement toward empowering young women in sports—a trend that resonates well beyond the tennis court.
