Samsung is celebrating 30 years in India with a bold new vision called “Powering Innovation for India.” This marks a significant milestone for the company, which has grown from selling its first TV in 1995 to becoming a major player in the country’s tech landscape.
In his remarks, JB Park, President & CEO of Samsung Southwest Asia, emphasized the journey driven by India’s creativity and ambition. He noted that young Indians want technology to be secure and intuitive. Samsung aims to deliver personalized innovations tailored to India’s diverse culture.
As part of its commitment, Samsung plans to invest heavily in research and development, focusing on manufacturing and digital transformation. The company has two manufacturing plants in Noida and Chennai and three R&D centers spread across Delhi, Noida, and Bengaluru. These facilities are central to Samsung’s effort to create people-centric technologies that resonate with Indian users.
A key highlight of their strategy is fostering local talent and ideas. Samsung has already established partnerships with universities and startups in India to inspire innovation. This includes programs like Samsung Solve for Tomorrow and Samsung Innovation Campus, which support student grants and skills development in cutting-edge fields like AI and IoT.
Samsung’s efforts align with a broader trend. A recent survey showed that over 70% of young Indians prioritize brands that invest in social responsibility and local communities. Through initiatives targeting education and sustainability, Samsung has already reached around 1.5 million people across the country.
Furthermore, Samsung has become one of the top patent filers in India, with over 14,000 patents. This not only highlights its commitment to innovation but also positions India as a growing powerhouse in technology development.
By focusing on local innovation while aiming for global reach, Samsung is not just marking its past in India; it’s building a future full of possibilities for the next generation.
