Dons Overview:
The Dons recently bounced back from a tough stretch with a solid win over Loyola Chicago, taking the game 85-71. Tyrone Riley IV led the team with a season-high 22 points and a career-best six three-pointers. David Fuchs, returning from injury, added another 20 points.
This win was significant as USF shot 52.9% from the field, allowing them to remain undefeated under Coach Chris Gerlufsen when hitting that mark. They also set a season-high with 13 three-pointers and had just four turnovers, a new low for the season.
Fuchs is making a mark in the West Coast Conference (WCC) with an average of 6.7 rebounds per game, despite missing some games this season. Mookie Cook is also contributing, ranking eleventh in total rebounds with 68.
Historically, USF has ended its nonconference play strong, winning the last three seasons in a row. Last year, they defeated Montana, a team that later went on to the NCAA Tournament after winning the Big Sky Championship.
Meet the Bears:
Morgan State is coming off a tough loss to California, falling 97-50. Despite the defeat, Christian Oliver and Rob Lawson scored 14 and 11 points, respectively. Alfred Worrell Jr. leads the Bears, averaging 14.2 points per game, while Lawson and Elijah Davis contribute nearly the same at 13.3 points each.
The Bears are in the midst of a West Coast road trip and have another game scheduled against LMU after facing the Dons.
Series History:
This matchup will mark the third time USF has faced Morgan State, where the Dons hold a 2-0 record. In their last encounter in November 2021, USF secured an 83-67 win.
