Sweet Mimi’s Café & Bakery in Albany has been awarded the top restaurant title at the recent RISE Awards. This event, held by the New York State Restaurant Association, recognized Sweet Mimi’s as the best restaurant in the eastern region.
In a post on Facebook, the café expressed its excitement, saying they are proud of their entire team for their dedication to excellence.
Other finalists for this prestigious award included The Nest in Schenectady and Panza’s Restaurant in Saratoga Springs. The award honors restaurants that consistently deliver outstanding food and service.
Sweet Mimi’s has a great reputation, particularly for its delicious breakfast offerings. Their menu features enticing dishes like lemon ricotta pancakes and French toast. The café has been a part of the community for over ten years, located on Phila Street.
This year, Sweet Mimi’s was also recognized as a finalist for the Best Front of House Team category, which ultimately went to Peekamoose Restaurant & Taproom in Ulster County.
During the ceremony, Yono and Donna Purnomo of Yono’s restaurant received a special award for their contributions to the hospitality industry. Donna has played an essential role in events like the Albany Chefs’ Food and Wine Festival, while Yono has earned accolades such as the American Dream Award.
Melissa Fleischut, president and CEO of NYSRA, stated that the RISE Awards highlight the hard work and passion of those in the restaurant business.
