Savannah Guthrie recently shared a heartfelt video on Instagram, asking for the safe return of her mother, Nancy Guthrie. It’s been two weeks since Nancy, 84, went missing. Last seen on January 31, she had dinner with her family before disappearing in the night.
In her emotional appeal, Savannah emphasized hope and the belief in humanity’s goodness. “It’s never too late to do the right thing,” she said.
The FBI is actively investigating Nancy’s case. They released images of a suspect taken from a doorbell camera outside her home. The man appears to be of average build, around 5’9” to 5’10”, wearing a ski mask and gloves. A black backpack linked to the suspect matched a model sold exclusively at Walmart, leading police to review footage from a nearby store.
Additionally, a black glove found near Nancy’s home matches those seen in the video. DNA from the glove is currently being tested. The FBI plans to add what they call an “unknown male profile” to their DNA database once confirmed.
Authorities are examining a ransom note that requested payment in Bitcoin, raising concerns and urgency around the case. The Guthrie family has made several appeals for information, even offering to pay a ransom if they receive proof of life.
So far, no suspects have been officially named. Multiple homes have been searched nearby, including one less than two miles from Nancy’s residence. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos reported that they followed a lead that resulted in a search warrant without making any arrests.
As the search continues, community support remains strong. Many are sharing their thoughts and prayers on social media. This tragedy has sparked conversations about safety and the importance of looking out for one another in neighborhoods.
