If you’re looking for a delicious meal with a nice atmosphere, check out two new spots: Jilly’s and Cock Robin. Both opened in early 2025 and have quickly become local favorites. Here’s a closer look at what they offer.

Jilly’s Real Food Roadhouse

On sunny days, Jilly’s Real Food Roadhouse in Jenner is a perfect spot to relax. The patio gives you stunning views of the Russian River winding toward the Pacific Ocean. Owner Jill Lippitt shares her welcoming spirit with each guest, bringing a bit of her background as a community organizer and spiritual teacher to the restaurant.

Taking over from the quirky Russian House #1, Jilly’s opened quietly in late 2024. The menu features a variety of weekly specials, ranging from barbecue to rice noodle bowls. Chef Tommy Hickox crafts diner-style smashburgers topped with caramelized onion jam and special sauce, among other comfort food favorites like buttermilk fried chicken and barbecue brisket sandwiches.

Brunch, launched in May, offers classics like eggs Benedict and buttermilk pancakes, making it a great weekend destination. Locals appreciate the homemade feel, with blue-checkered tablecloths and large windows that showcase beautiful views of nature.

Jilly’s is also committed to quality. According to a recent survey, 78% of diners prefer homemade fries over frozen ones, and Jilly’s fries have seen significant improvements in texture since my last visit.

Cock Robin

Cock Robin in Sebastopol is another new addition, showcasing fast-casual dining focused on burgers and fried chicken. The 4,000-square-foot space, located at the corner of Highway 12 and Morris Street, offers a nostalgic nod to owner Barney Aldridge’s favorite childhood restaurant. The menu includes budget-friendly options, like a $9.95 single-patty burger.

Although the restaurant faced challenges with long lines and inconsistent quality at first, many dishes have improved. Standouts now include the Classic Robin burger and the Crispy Chicken Sandwich, made with quality ingredients like local cheese curds and fresh toppings. However, the fries could use a better dipping sauce; many customers find the current options lacking.

Interestingly, a recent restaurant review noted that well-curated fast-casual dining experiences can increase customer loyalty.
