Savor Greece: Delight in Traditional Cuisine While Supporting Our Church Fundraiser!

For more than 30 years, the Taste of Greece fundraiser, hosted by Twelve Holy Apostles Orthodox Church, has brought the community together in Duluth. This event, held at Marshall School, celebrates Greek culture by serving traditional foods and raising funds for the church.

The setup includes an “express tent” for those on the go. You can grab snacks quickly and hit the road. Inside, you’ll find a feast of delicious Greek dishes. There’s everything from shish kebabs and gyros to spanakopita and Greek pastries.

Volunteer Steve Patronas shared that preparing for the event is no small task. “Baking starts about two months ahead,” he said, adding that cooking ramps up two weeks before. “It’s a well-oiled machine right now,” he noted, reflecting on the teamwork involved.

Father Dustin Lyon, the church’s priest, enjoys the personal connections made during the event. “I love talking with everyone—our workers and guests,” he said. “It’s not just about raising funds; it’s about being part of the Duluth community. People look forward to it each year.”

Recent surveys show a growing interest in community events like this. A 2023 report indicated that 75% of Americans value local gatherings as a way to connect with one another and support local causes.

If you missed Saturday’s festivities, don’t worry! The Taste of Greece continues on Sunday from 11 AM to 4 PM. Find out more about the menu here.
