Sonya Jackson, the owner of Nachamama’s Kitchen, is passionate about her culinary craft. She’s been in the food truck business for 15 years, starting as a sidewalk vendor. She uses cherished family recipes, saying, "My dad taught me how to make the chili beans, and that’s my mom’s cornbread recipe." For her, cooking isn’t just a job; it’s a way to connect with people and share joy.
Nick Hill, the festival’s founder, emphasizes the importance of community support. "For any church or non-profit that sells tickets, we’ll donate right back to them." This way, attendees not only enjoy great food but also contribute to a good cause.
Tickets are $20 and can be bought on Eventbrite. This price includes food samples and activities throughout the day. Hill also mentioned an exciting slam dunk competition with the Bakersfield Majestic’s—an extra treat for sports fans.
The festival runs from 3 PM to 9 PM at Nobel Park on P Street.
