Route 73, stretching between Fleetwood and Boyertown, has always had dining options, but it was missing a cozy coffee shop. That was until Sweetie’s Back Porch Cafe opened in the fall of 2025.
Nestled behind Bella Italia Pizza, Hometown Dental, and Clear Flow Water Solutions, Sweetie’s has a humble entrance — a simple white door against a green building. But step inside, and you’ll find a warm, inviting space with comfy wicker chairs and a bright dining area. A second room even offers a more relaxed vibe with couches for those wanting to unwind.
On my first visit, I found a seat along the wall, ready for some work on my laptop. It was around 8 a.m., and while the cafe was buzzing with activity, there were still spots available. I ordered a breakfast croissant and a chai latte. My chai arrived quickly, served in a lovely brown mug with a sprinkle of cinnamon. It was perfectly spiced — warming even on a chilly day.
The croissant, filled with sausage and melted cheese, didn’t disappoint either. Though Sweetie’s has a limited breakfast menu, the options are solid. You can choose between a croissant or a bagel for your sandwich, which I found quite satisfying.
When I returned in February, the cafe felt livelier, with many patrons and constant phone orders. I tried the Back Porch Bowl for lunch. It has a base of rice topped with sliced beets, sweet potatoes, mango, and feta. The combination was surprisingly delightful, balancing the sweetness of the mango with the earthy beets and creamy feta.
Instead of chai this time, I opted for a blueberry matcha drink. Sweetie’s makes the syrup in-house, and it was truly delicious with a layer of sweet cold foam. My lunch came to about $20, and I felt it was well worth it considering the quality of the food.
A recent survey from the National Coffee Association shows that coffee consumption has grown significantly, with 66% of Americans now enjoying coffee daily. Local cafes like Sweetie’s are tapping into this trend, offering unique drinks and a community vibe that resonates with residents. Avid coffee drinkers often seek out places that offer more than just caffeine — they want a welcoming atmosphere, good food, and community engagement.
It’s great to see a place like Sweetie’s thrive, especially in a part of the county that needed a welcoming coffee stop. As community reactions grow, it’s clear that locals appreciate this new hangout. If you’re in the area, it’s a worthwhile visit.
