Good morning, friends! This week, we have a visitor from out of town, and we’ve been introducing her to our favorite food places. Last night, we enjoyed dinner at Phat Eatery, an amazing spot in Houston known for its upscale take on Malaysian street food. It’s one of our top picks, and we usually end up splurging on delicious dishes. I wanted to share some pictures from our meal, especially since I’m low on diary ideas!
When you visit Phat Eatery, you can’t miss the roti. This flaky flatbread is incredibly soft and comes with a side of chicken curry for dipping. Honestly, I could make a meal out of just the roti! To start, we also ordered their calamari, and let me tell you, it’s the best fried calamari I’ve ever tasted.
We decided to share a few entrees family-style. Our first dish was Malaysian chicken curry, which is made with coconut milk. We opted for the mild version, keeping it friendly for everyone at the table!
Next up, we tried coconut shrimp for the first time, and wow—we’ll definitely order this again! The shrimp were perfectly cooked, juicy, and the sweet coconut batter gave a unique flavor that oddly reminded me of funnel cake. It’s an interesting twist!
Finally, I always look forward to the beef rendang. This Malaysian curry, made with coconut milk, is rich and hearty, almost like a flavorful beef stew. It can be spicy, but ours was mild this time. By the end, we were pretty full, but I happily took home leftovers for lunch!
It was a wonderful night filled with great food and even better company. Have you tried any new restaurants lately? I’d love to hear your recommendations!
