On Sat., Dec. 6, from 3-6 p.m., try Pittsburgh’s new pawpaw ginger beer at Jackworth Ginger Beer’s release party. This unique drink, made from locally grown pawpaws, combines sweet and citrusy flavors into a refreshing ginger beer. It’s a great way to celebrate the local food culture!
Holiday Ice Cream and Milkshakes 2025
For those who love sweet treats during the holidays, check out some exciting ice cream flavors. Sarris Candies and Schneider’s Dairy bring back the Peppermint Bark Milkshake, blending chocolate and peppermint for a festive delight. Sarris also reintroduces its beloved egg nog ice cream.
Grist House Craft Brewery and Turner Dairy have joined forces again, releasing Udderly Baked, a Brownie Batter Milk Stout. This treat aims to capture the flavor of eating brownie batter right from the bowl!
Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream has launched its holiday lineup, featuring flavors like Cranberry Panettone and returning favorites like Wedding Cake. For a limited time, you can find the Dubai Chocolate Bar flavor, which combines two popular Jeni’s favorites. Be sure to try these delicious options at Jeni’s online or in their local shops.
Additionally, Graeter’s Ice Cream introduces a new holiday collection to celebrate its 155th anniversary. New flavors include Cozy Hot Cocoa and Spirited Eggnog, alongside classic options like Peppermint Stick.
Not to be missed, the Snickerdoodle Cookie Shake is back at Burgatory, benefiting Toys for Tots for a limited time until Dec. 14.

Pittsburgh welcomes a new Shake Shack location opening on Thu., Dec. 4, at 10:30 a.m. Located in The Meridian development, the Shack will operate daily from 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., serving its famous burgers and shakes. On opening day, guests can snag a custom mini Shake Shack tote! Plus, $1 from every sandwich sold goes to 412 Food Rescue.

Ruckus Cafe has opened a new spot at EQT Plaza. This location features coffee, breakfast, lunch, and even an events space. In December, new menu items include a Nutcracker Cream Cheese Bagel and Peppermint Dream Affogato, with daily hours from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Sadly, The Grant Bar has closed its doors after almost 100 years. The owners expressed their gratitude to the community, noting its importance over generations. This milestone reflects changing times and challenges faced by local businesses.

Taqueria Acosta announced its tacOcat pop-up closure on Nov. 20. The restaurant promises to return in 2026 with exciting new concepts, keeping the brand alive despite the temporary pause.
Patron Mexican Grill

The East Liberty location of Patron Mexican Grill is also permanently closed. The reason remains unclear, but the Monroeville site is temporarily closed, leaving only the Wexford and Cranberry locations open.
