Schottenheimer Set to Face Parsons: What Happens After the Break?

Dallas Cowboys Coach Addresses Micah Parsons’ Behavior

In Frisco, Texas, Dallas Cowboys’ coach Brian Schottenheimer is set to meet with Micah Parsons to discuss the player’s unusual behavior during a recent game against the Atlanta Falcons. Parsons, who has not played while negotiating a contract extension, was seen lying on a medical table behind the bench during the game. He was also the only player without a jersey on.

Schottenheimer emphasized that they will resolve the situation internally. “Before I discuss it, I need to speak with Micah,” he said. This approach reflects a desire for open communication and understanding.

Parsons underwent an MRI on his back, which thankfully showed no serious issues. He had mentioned experiencing back tightness back in June during minicamp. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones previously downplayed the concern, suggesting it was part of the negotiations surrounding Parsons’ contract, similar to his earlier trade request.

Looking forward, Schottenheimer feels confident that Parsons will be ready for the season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles on September 4. However, the uncertainty surrounding his status will impact roster decisions. “We’re pretty deep at defensive end,” he noted, hinting at some strategic planning.

The coach also shared optimism about cornerback Trevon Diggs, who is expected to be activated from the physically unable to perform list. Diggs, recovering from knee surgery, may start the season on the roster. “He’s dedicated to his recovery, and I’m proud of his efforts,” Schottenheimer added. Diggs himself is hopeful about playing in Week 1 but emphasized mutual decision-making regarding his return.

In addition, left tackle Tyler Guyton is aiming to practice this week. He suffered a knee injury in late July, with a recovery timeline of four to six weeks. Schottenheimer expressed optimism about Guyton’s progress as well.

With the NFL season approaching, these developments will be crucial for the Cowboys as they finalize their roster and prepare for a challenging start to the season.
