Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ Attorney Clarifies: ‘I Haven’t Been Involved in Any Pardon Talks’

The lead attorney for Sean “Diddy” Combs, Marc Agnifilo, recently spoke with CBS News. He clarified that he hasn’t had talks with the Trump administration about securing a pardon for Combs.

In his first network interview since a jury in New York found Combs guilty of charges related to prostitution, Agnifilo emphasized that there has been no communication on that front. Combs, who was acquitted of more serious charges like sex trafficking, is due for sentencing on October 3.

Interestingly, another attorney on Combs’ team, Nicole Westmoreland, mentioned to CNN that there were discussions with Trump’s camp regarding a pardon. However, Agnifilo strongly denied these claims, stating, “I have had conversations with nobody.”

He shared that Combs, currently in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, told him to ask Trump for a pardon, insisting that he deserves one. A senior official from the White House avoided addressing these rumors but noted that any pardon decisions ultimately rest with the president.

Agnifilo is now concentrating on securing a fair sentence for Combs. He talks to his client multiple times daily and said they’re working closely together through this challenging time.

Combs, 55, was convicted of two counts involving the Mann Act, which prohibits transporting someone for prostitution. Both counts could lead to a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. Prosecutors indicated that he might face 51 to 63 months, roughly four to five years, but he will receive credit for the time he’s already served.

Reflecting on the trial, Agnifilo expressed no regrets about his approach to the case. He referred to Combs’ relationship with his former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, as a “great modern love story.” Ventura testified against him, alleging abuse and addiction linked to their relationship. Agnifilo defended Combs, stating they “vehemently deny” the rape allegations, illustrating a complicated and contradictory narrative around their past.

Agnifilo, a seasoned attorney with notable cases like NXIVM founder Keith Raniere, acknowledged the intense pressure that came with representing a high-profile figure like Combs. He believed in Combs’ innocence and noted that his client is now focusing on family and personal reflection during this tough time.

This case not only highlights legal complexities but also underscores the broader social challenges surrounding domestic violence and celebrity culture. The public’s reaction has been mixed, with some supporting Combs and others standing behind Ventura’s testimonies.

As Combs awaits sentencing, discussions around celebrity accountability and the justice system continue to evolve. This case serves as a reminder of the intricate dynamics at play when fame, legal challenges, and personal relationships collide.
