Combs’ lawyers have written to Judge Arun Subramanian, suggesting that FCI Fort Dix would be an ideal placement. They argue that the prison’s residential drug treatment program would support his efforts to address substance abuse while allowing better family visitation opportunities.

In a surprising twist, former President Donald Trump recently mentioned that Combs had sought a pardon. He referred to him as “Puff Daddy” but did not indicate whether he would grant that request.

Combs was sentenced after being convicted under the Mann Act, which prohibits transporting people across state lines for sexual crimes. His trial revealed disturbing details about his lifestyle, including violence and drug use. While he faced serious charges, he was acquitted on more severe accusations that could have led to a life sentence.

Since his arrest in September 2024, Combs has been at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. The time served there will count toward his sentence, potentially allowing him release in about three years.

In a reflective letter before sentencing, Combs mentioned experiencing a “spiritual reset” while in jail. He expressed a strong commitment to being drug-free and living a peaceful life.

Judge Subramanian has yet to respond to the request regarding FCI Fort Dix. Typically, judges can recommend placements, but the final decision rests with the Bureau of Prisons, which considers various factors including the inmate’s offense and rehabilitation needs.

FCI Fort Dix is the largest federal prison in terms of population and is located roughly 64 miles southwest of New York City. The facility has housed a variety of high-profile inmates over the years, including mobsters and politicians.
