Security Breach: Hackers Caught Selling $600K in Stolen Taylor Swift Eras Tour Tickets!

While Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour brought in over $2 billion, some fans lost out in a big way—$600,000 to be exact, and without any private jets involved.

Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced the arrest of two hackers who allegedly stole over 900 digital concert tickets, primarily for the Eras Tour. They reportedly sold these tickets for a hefty profit exceeding $600,000 over the course of a year.

Katz stated, “These defendants tried to cash in on the popularity of Taylor Swift’s concert tour and other major events, exploiting a loophole through an offshore ticket vendor.” They took advantage of these high-demand concerts and resold the stolen tickets at inflated prices.

The investigation revealed that two individuals, working for a third-party contractor in Kingston, Jamaica, stole ticket URLs. They sent these URLs to two accomplices in Jamaica, Queens, who then downloaded and resold the tickets on StubHub for their own gain.

Tyrone Rose and Shamara P. Simmons from Queens now face serious charges, including second-degree grand larceny and computer tampering. Each could face three to 15 years in prison when they return to court.

The investigation is still active. The DA’s office is working to find more co-conspirators and exploring the full breadth of this operation, which also included tickets for Adele, Ed Sheeran, NBA games, and the US Open Tennis Championships.
