Seguin Celebrates February as Career & Technical Education Month: Empowering Future Professionals!

Seguin is excited to celebrate Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month this February. This month highlights the valuable CTE programs available in local schools. These programs help students gain real-life experiences that can shape their future careers and skills.

During a recent city council meeting, Mayor Donna Dodgen shared a proclamation supporting CTE. She emphasized how these programs equip students with both academic and technical skills that lead to career readiness. By participating in meaningful experiences, students become more engaged and can explore various career paths early on in their education.

The collaboration between the city, the Seguin Economic Development Corporation, and local school districts aims to strengthen existing CTE programs. They are working to ensure these programs align with current job opportunities in Seguin. Dodgen noted that a remarkable 85 percent of students in local independent school districts are enrolled in at least one CTE course. That’s impressive!

Mayor Dodgen expressed gratitude towards educators and community members who support these programs. She believes CTE is crucial not only for students but also for the community’s growth and development. “These programs are vital to our community,” Dodgen said, reflecting on her own family’s experiences with technical education.

Local businesses and organizations, like the Seguin Construction Trades Booster Club, are also playing an important role in supporting CTE initiatives. This collaborative effort highlights a strong community commitment to preparing students for successful futures.
