Dense fog in North India is causing major delays in train services. Long-distance trains, including the Vande Bharat Express and Rajdhani Express, are running late by over eight hours. For instance, the Rajdhani Express from Howrah to New Delhi, which usually arrives at 10:05 AM, reached at 8:19 PM—an incredible delay of over 10 hours.
The Dibrugarh to New Delhi Rajdhani Express also faced significant delays. It was expected to arrive at 1:38 PM but hadn’t reached until 10:02 PM, running late by nearly 3 hours and 30 minutes. The Khajuraho to Hazrat Nizamuddin Vande Bharat Express, meant to arrive at 11:10 PM, also departed late, now projected to arrive at 1:38 AM.
Foggy weather can dramatically reduce visibility. According to a report by the Indian Meteorological Department, visibility in some areas dipped to less than 50 meters at times. Such conditions not only disrupt travel plans but can also pose safety risks.
