The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) wants your voice. They are gathering public comments about the Michigan Medicaid Health Plan Common Formulary. This formulary includes medications covered by Medicaid Managed Care Organizations. However, it doesn’t apply to claims paid through Fee-for-Service.
Public input is invited every quarter. Upcoming reviews will focus on pain relievers, central nervous system drugs, skin treatments, and cancer medications.
Anyone, including doctors and the public, can share their thoughts on which drugs are listed or not, along with criteria for prior authorization and step therapy. MDHHS carefully considers all feedback. If enough comments come in, they may update the formulary.
Want to share your opinion? You can send your feedback to MDHHS by September 12, 2025. Here’s who to contact:

Public input is crucial. A recent report indicated that only 39% of surveyed Michigan residents feel adequately involved in healthcare decisions affecting them. Engaging in the comment period could change that perception.
Remember, the decisions made can impact many lives, especially those relying on Medicaid for essential medications. By voicing your thoughts, you contribute to better healthcare access and options for all.
