The latest season of Shark Tank India is grabbing attention, especially for its judges. Some founders are feeling uneasy about the direct feedback from judges like Vineeta Singh and Anupam Mittal. Recently, social media influencer Gaurav Taneja had a similar experience when he pitched his company, Beast Life. Anupam’s comment calling Gaurav a ‘terrible’ entrepreneur has gone viral.
Raj Gupta, co-founder of Beast Life, discussed their experience on a podcast. He mentioned that much of the positive feedback about their product was edited out. Instead, he felt the judges were more focused on Gaurav than on the product itself. Raj explained, “We took Beast Life to the tank, but not much was said about our product. The judges tasted it and had good things to say, but that was cut from the episode. I found it controversial. The sharks were more interested in Gaurav and even seemed to want to stir up drama.”
Raj provided insight into how Shark Tank India operates behind the scenes. He confirmed that the intense questioning is genuine, with no scripts involved. They didn’t do any retakes during their pitch, and everything happened in one go. “The founders get a couple of days of prep before shooting, but we didn’t have to practice much,” he shared.
Gaurav Taneja later expressed his frustration about how his episode was edited to show him in a negative light. Speaking at an event, he mentioned that he didn’t feel he learned anything valuable from the experience.
