Shepherd of the Prairie Hosts Appreciation Lunch for Grafton Food Pantry Volunteers

Recently, the Grafton Food Pantry in Huntley enjoyed a surprise lunch from the Community Outreach Ministry of Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church. This thoughtful gesture celebrated the hard work of pantry staff and volunteers who help so many in the community.

Pastor Ryan Mackey and Community Outreach Ministry leader Tara Mackey visited the pantry with committee members Bob and Carolyn Malm and Annette Kandell to deliver a delicious meal and homemade desserts. Their goal? To say thank you for the incredible work the pantry does.

Pastor Mackey highlighted the importance of the pantry’s efforts, saying, “They truly deserve recognition for the strong impact they have.” Harriet Ford, the president of the Grafton Food Pantry board, echoed this sentiment. She noted that Shepherd of the Prairie has been a vital partner in the fight against food insecurity for years. “Their kindness and support have made a real difference,” she said.

Tara Mackey expressed pride in the partnership. She mentioned how Shepherd of the Prairie has stood by the pantry through challenging times, including the COVID pandemic. “It’s an honor for us to be involved,” she added.

The Community Outreach Ministry plays an active role in Huntley, organizing food drives and events to support the pantry, which serves residents from nearby areas like Algonquin and Lake in the Hills.
