Sherm’s Markets Delivers Over 13 Tons of Holiday Cheer to ACCESS: Celebrating Generosity in the Rogue Valley

Sherm’s Markets Gives 13 Tons of Food to ACCESS This Holiday Season

Sherm’s Markets has once again made a big difference in the Rogue Valley by donating over 13 tons of food to ACCESS Regional Food Bank. This marks the 28th year that the family-owned grocery stores have stepped up during the holiday season.

On Thursday, they delivered 26,123 pounds of nonperishable food to the ACCESS warehouse. This generous contribution will help many families, children, and seniors in need this holiday season. Dana Daniels, the food programs director for ACCESS, expressed gratitude for the Olsrud family’s ongoing support, emphasizing that this donation is crucial for those facing food insecurity.

ACCESS plays a vital role in the community, distributing more than 4.5 million pounds of food each year across over 30 pantries in Jackson County. The need for food assistance rises during the holidays, and recent cuts to SNAP benefits have made the situation even more challenging. In fact, a survey conducted by Feeding America revealed that 1 in 8 Americans struggle with hunger, a reality that impacts our neighbors during this time of year.

Every dollar given to ACCESS translates to three meals for families in need. By keeping donations local, the community can directly support its residents. Community members can join in this effort by donating directly to ACCESS via their website.

As we enter this season of giving, remember that help is always appreciated. Whether through a monetary donation or simply spreading awareness, every action counts in the fight against hunger.
