Actor Shia LaBeouf was arrested in New Orleans during Mardi Gras celebrations, following an altercation outside a bar. Police say he was removed from the venue after causing a disturbance, but returned and became aggressive.
Witnesses reported that LaBeouf hit two people with closed fists. Despite attempts to restrain him, he continued to lash out until officers arrived. He was later treated at a hospital for unknown injuries and charged with two counts of simple battery. Details leading to the incident are still unclear.
This isn’t LaBeouf’s first brush with the law. In 2020, his ex-partner, singer FKA Twigs, accused him of serious abuse in a lawsuit, including choking and transmitting a sexually transmitted disease. The case was settled last year when Twigs dropped the lawsuit.
LaBeouf has openly acknowledged his struggles with alcohol and aggression. He once said, “I have been abusive to myself and everyone around me for years.” His history includes several legal issues. In 2017, he was arrested for public drunkenness, during which he made racist remarks to police. He ultimately pled guilty to obstruction and received probation.
Interestingly, a recent survey by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism revealed that over 14 million adults in the U.S. struggle with alcohol use disorder. This statistic highlights how common such issues can be, even among well-known figures like LaBeouf. His journey underscores the importance of addressing personal challenges and seeking help.
