Mother Arrested for Neglecting Son at South Miami Hotel
In South Miami, a mother is facing serious charges after leaving her young son unattended in a hotel room. Louisa Kherkhach, 52, was arrested after police found her son outside the Rodeway Inn early Thursday morning.
Officers were called around 7:45 a.m. after the boy was discovered alone. According to the child, Kherkhach had left him without food while she went to work. Shockingly, he also revealed he hadn’t taken his medication in about two months. The boy’s father was unaware that his son had been left there.
The police report indicated that the boy appeared disheveled, prompting authorities to reach out to the Department of Children and Families. They documented the incident for further investigation.
Kherkhach was taken into custody later that night and faces a charge of child neglect without significant bodily harm. As of now, she is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
This incident raises concerns about child safety and highlights the importance of proper care for children, especially among working parents. Recent statistics show that over 300,000 children in the U.S. are involved in cases of neglect each year. Experts point out that neglect can have long-term effects on a child’s emotional and physical well-being.
Parents are encouraged to seek resources if they’re struggling with childcare or facing difficult circumstances. Agencies are available to provide assistance and support, ensuring children receive the care they deserve.
As discussions about child welfare continue to grow, it’s clear that this incident serves as a stark reminder for all families to prioritize their children’s needs.
