A troubling case has emerged from Waukesha, Wisconsin, where a 17-year-old boy, Nikita Casap, has been charged with the murder of his parents. Authorities say he allegedly killed them to gain the financial resources and freedom needed to plan an attack on President Donald Trump and to overthrow the U.S. government.
Casap faces serious charges, including two counts of first-degree murder and hiding a corpse. He was also charged with theft of property exceeding $10,000 and identity theft for financial gain. Federal investigators are looking into additional charges that could include conspiracy and using a weapon of mass destruction.
On March 1, the bodies of 51-year-old Donald Mayer and 35-year-old Tatiana Casap were found in their home by the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department.
In their investigation, authorities uncovered disturbing material on Casap’s phone. This included connections to "The Order of Nine Angles," a group known for promoting neo-Nazi ideologies. The FBI also found documents in which Casap expressed intentions to assassinate Trump and start a revolution, aiming to "save the white race." Some of these writings contained offensive imagery and slogans referencing Adolf Hitler.
Investigators say Casap was in contact with others about his plans and had taken steps to acquire a drone and explosives for his intended attack. This raises important questions about how young individuals become involved in such extremist thoughts and behaviors.
In the context of rising youth radicalization, experts are increasingly concerned. A recent report by the Anti-Defamation League noted an uptick in young people’s engagement with extremist groups online, often leading to real-world actions. Their research indicates that more than 30% of individuals arrested for domestic terrorism since 2016 were under 25.
Casap has not yet entered a plea and remains in custody, with a future court date set for May 7. This case highlights the urgent need for dialogue about preventing radicalization and addressing the factors that lead young people down such dangerous paths.
