Gucci Mane was reportedly kidnapped at gunpoint by Pooh Shiesty. Prosecutors say Pooh forced Gucci to sign a document that released him from his recording contract.
Pooh was among nine individuals charged with a “coordinated armed takeover” of a Texas music studio. If convicted, they could face life sentences.
The complaint details a meeting in January where Pooh invited Gucci to discuss his contract. Once inside the studio, others from Pooh’s group burst in. One suspect blocked the door. With a gun in hand, Pooh demanded Gucci’s release from his contract.
Prosecutors claim victims were robbed of cash and jewelry, and one was even choked until he lost consciousness. Hours later, several suspects shared images on social media showcasing items they allegedly stole, including luxury watches.
Ryan Raybould, the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, stated, “Nine defendants travelled to Dallas to kidnap and rob victims who thought they were coming for a business meeting. Instead of a civil discussion, they used violence and intimidation.”
Evidence against the defendants is strong. Investigators have electronic monitoring data placing Pooh in the vicinity of the crime, cell phone records, surveillance footage, and even fingerprints from the studio. Pooh’s father, Lontrell Williams Sr., is also implicated in the planning of this incident.
Most of the defendants were apprehended recently in Dallas and Memphis, including rapper Big30. While Gucci Mane, whose real name is Radric Davis, wasn’t named by prosecutors, one victim was identified as R.D. This case highlights the darker side of the music industry, where disputes can escalate into violence.
