A fire broke out at Disney World’s Epcot theme park in Orlando, Florida, on Saturday evening. The blaze started in a walk-in cooler located in a restricted area of the France pavilion. Fortunately, the fire was quickly extinguished, and there were no injuries reported.
Witnesses captured the scene as smoke billowed from the area. One guest, riding the Skyliner attraction, filmed large clouds of black smoke rising between the France and Morocco pavilions. A shocked onlooker exclaimed, “Oh my God, it’s right there!” as flames were visible through the smoke. Other footage from nearby locations showed smoke that could be seen from outside the park.
This isn’t the first fire incident at a Disney park. Earlier this year, a Maleficent dragon figure caught fire during a performance of “Fantasmic!” at Disneyland, prompting significant safety reviews of pyrotechnic displays. According to recent reports, incidents like these highlight ongoing concerns regarding safety at large entertainment venues.
Epcot, which opened in 1982 as Disney World’s second theme park, is one of four major parks at the resort. It followed the Magic Kingdom and was later joined by Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom. Despite occasional mishaps, Epcot continues to be a popular destination for visitors looking to experience its unique attractions.
