A suspect in Florida is facing serious charges after allegedly swallowing over $750,000 worth of earrings from Tiffany & Co. Following a robbery at the Mall at Millenia in Orlando, Orlando Police took Jaythan Gilder, 32, into custody.

On the day of the theft, Gilder entered the Tiffany store claiming to represent a professional athlete. He was shown high-value jewelry, including two pairs of earrings valued at $769,500. In a shocking turn of events, he snatched the earrings and tried to escape when store employees attempted to stop him.
Police tracked down Gilder’s getaway vehicle shortly after the incident. They noticed it was driving without rear lights on Interstate 10. When they conducted a traffic stop, Gilder was identified as the driver. According to the authorities, Gilder resisted arrest and was seen swallowing items believed to be the stolen earrings.
Using a search warrant, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office helped investigators find the stolen property. A body scan later confirmed the presence of several foreign objects in Gilder’s stomach, which are suspected to be the missing earrings.
During his time at a local jail, Gilder expressed concern about being charged for what was in his stomach, highlighting the bizarre nature of the case. He faces significant charges, including robbery and grand theft, due to the high value of the stolen items.
Gilder’s criminal history is concerning, as he was previously involved in a similar robbery at a Tiffany store in Texas in 2022. He also had 48 outstanding warrants in Colorado at the time of his arrest.
