Three buses exploded in Bat Yam, near Tel Aviv. The Israeli police are treating this as a suspected terror attack. Fortunately, two other explosive devices failed to detonate. Large police forces are currently searching the area for any suspects.
In response to the incident, Transport Minister Miri Regev ordered a halt to all bus, train, and light rail services throughout the country. This pause allows time for thorough checks for other explosive devices.
Videos on social media show one bus engulfed in flames, with thick smoke rising into the sky. Thankfully, there have been no reported injuries so far.
Local reports mention that one of the undetonated devices weighed about 5kg and had a note attached that read “Revenge from Tulkarem.” This message likely relates to a recent Israeli military operation in the West Bank.
In light of these events, Defence Minister Israel Katz has instructed the military to step up operations in West Bank refugee camps. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is receiving updates about the situation.
Authorities are urging the public to stay away from the affected areas and to remain vigilant for any suspicious items.
