Stellar Blade is set to launch on PC on June 11. However, its arrival on Steam has hit a snag, as players in over 120 countries are unable to access it. Even the game’s developer, Shift Up, expressed surprise at this availability issue.
Shift Up recently shared the launch news on their social media, but fans quickly responded with screenshots showing the game’s unavailability in their regions. The company confirmed that a PlayStation Network (PSN) account isn’t necessary to play the PC version, although linking one will grant players a bonus costume.
According to SteamDB, restrictions appear mostly in areas where PSN isn’t available, echoing a similar situation experienced by Helldivers 2 last year. That game faced backlash for requiring a PSN account and was subsequently pulled from sale in 177 countries.
Interestingly, the Steam listing for Stellar Blade mentions the use of Denuvo, a feature that has drawn criticism from some fans.
Recent statistics indicate an interesting market trend: Shift Up believes the PC version will outsell its console counterpart. In their February financial report, they noted that PC gaming has a larger market share than consoles. They highlighted the significant growth of single-player action games in Asia, indicating a shift in player preferences.
The latest performance specs for Stellar Blade reflect a range of needs, accommodating both casual and high-end gamers. Here are the details:
- Minimum: 1080P at 60 FPS
- Recommended: 1440P at 60 FPS
- High: 1440P at 60 FPS
- Very High: 4K at 60 FPS
For optimal gaming, a compatible CPU and GPU are necessary. Shift Up emphasizes that they foresee positive trends for the PC launch, especially as the gaming industry evolves.
