MAKAWAO, Hawaii – Kennedie Shuler had an outstanding night, scoring a personal best of 21 points and earning Tournament MVP honors. Oregon State edged out Liberty 64-57 to win the Maui Classic Championship.
Shuler hit 8 of her 14 shots and made 4 of 5 free throws. She also pulled down six rebounds. Jenna Villa supported the team with 13 points and two steals, earning her place on the All-Tournament team too.
The Beavers displayed solid shooting, hitting 45% from the field and nailing 7 out of 18 three-pointers. Their free-throw accuracy was impressive, converting 11 of 13 attempts for an 85% success rate.
Oregon State took charge in the third quarter, outscoring Liberty 20-17 and entering the last period ahead 45-42. In the final quarter, they shot 46% to secure the win.
Ally Schimel added eight points, while Néné Sow contributed six points and six rebounds. Both Lara Alonso-Basurto and Lizzy Williamson recorded two blocks each. The team racked up 10 assists on 23 field goals and minimized turnovers, with just nine compared to the previous day’s struggle.
Liberty’s top scorers were Emmy Stout and Avery Mills, each with 14 points. Mills made 3 out of 7 from beyond the arc.
This victory marks Oregon State’s second in a row and fifth in the last six games on Maui. They will return to action on December 28 against San Francisco.
