Italian director Silvio Soldini’s film “The Tasters” is creating a buzz at the European Film Market. This drama tells the true story of women who were chosen to taste Adolf Hitler’s food for safety reasons.
The film has already secured distribution deals in many countries. Vision Distribution is at the helm, handling sales for various territories, including several in Germany. The cast features talented actors like Elisa Schlott from “Das Boot,” Max Riemelt from “Sleeping Dog,” and Alma Hasun from “Corsage.” Excitingly, “The Tasters” is set to open the Bari International Festival in Italy next month.
Based on the bestselling book “At the Wolf’s Table” by Rosella Postorino, “The Tasters” has caught the attention of distributors worldwide. CDI has acquired rights for much of Latin America, while Pandora picked it up for Brazil. Media Stars is handling distribution for former Yugoslavian territories. It’s also reaching audiences in Spain, Portugal, Bulgaria, Israel, and Greece.
The film is produced by Lumière & Co., led by Lionello Cerri, and partnered with Belgium’s Tarantula and Switzerland’s Tellfilm and IDM Film Commission.
Vision Distribution’s managing director, Massimo Proietti, shared that the film’s unique blend of Italian production and an international cast in the German language makes it particularly exciting. “The Tasters” will be dubbed in Italian for its March release in theaters across Italy.
At the European Film Market, Vision Distribution is not just focused on this project. They are also promoting Isabel Coixet’s upcoming film “Tre Ciotole,” starring Alba Rohrwacher and Elio Germano, along with other titles like “The Eyes of Others” and “Gioia.” Other anticipated projects include Ferzan Özpetek’s “Diamonds” and the hit comedy “I Am the End of the World.”
