Slippery Rock Lacrosse Climbs to No. 7/3 in Latest Rankings: What This Means for the Team’s Future

Slippery Rock University Women’s Lacrosse Team Shines in Rankings

The Slippery Rock University women’s lacrosse team continues to impress. After a strong performance last week, they moved up to No. 7 in the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) national rankings and remain at No. 3 in the USA Lacrosse Magazine poll.

The team kicked off their season with a 20-4 victory over Gannon University. This win was crucial, allowing them to retain their position among the elite teams in Division II lacrosse. Remarkably, Slippery Rock is one of only three undefeated teams left in their division, alongside Flagler and East Stroudsburg, who also boast perfect records.

With key statistics in their favor, Slippery Rock has the top scoring defense in the nation, allowing just 5 goals per game. They are also in the top five for scoring offense, averaging over 16 goals per game, and boast a significant scoring margin of over 11 goals.

This is particularly impressive when you consider the rise of other teams in the Atlantic Region. East Stroudsburg has moved up to No. 5, and West Chester holds steady at No. 11. Overall, the region has seven teams in the top 25, a testament to the talent in this area.

As the regular season winds down, Slippery Rock will host Edinboro and Indiana (Pa.) this week. Already having secured a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference playoff berth, they are poised for a strong postseason showing.

This season has been remarkable for Slippery Rock, showcasing not just their skills but their determination to compete at the highest level. Keep an eye on them as they look to make a strong playoff run!
