SALT LAKE CITY (May 13, 2026) – A groundbreaking partnership has been formed between Smith Entertainment Group (SEG) and Intermountain Health. Together, they’re creating a top-notch sports medicine center at SEG’s new sports campus in Sandy, Utah. This facility, set to open in 2028, will be right next to the Utah Mammoth Ice Center and a new practice area for the Utah Jazz.
This sports and health campus is unique. With both the Jazz and Mammoth under one ownership and one healthcare provider, athletes will benefit from a seamless integration of sports performance and health care. The aim is to create a hub for athletes of all levels—from professionals to local youth—offering advanced recovery and wellness options.
The new Intermountain Health Sports Performance Center will cover nearly 60,000 square feet. It will feature cutting-edge technology and services. Patients can access primary care, sports medicine, orthopedics, and physical rehabilitation. It’s designed not just for competitive athletes but anyone interested in health and fitness.
“This partnership allows us to innovate and share best practices,” says Ryan Smith, chairman of SEG. “Intermountain is known nationwide for quality health care, and together we’ll set a new standard for athlete and community care.”
The facility aims to give the Jazz and Mammoth a competitive edge. By merging medical care with athletic training, athletes can receive AI-powered insights. This technology will help assess biomechanics and injury risks, making it easier to manage training and recovery.
Location matters, too. Situated near the Wasatch Mountains, the campus is close to top skiing spots and outdoor activities, enhancing the wellness experience year-round.
Starting July 1, 2026, Intermountain Health will also serve as the official healthcare partner for both teams. They’ll provide comprehensive care, including injury prevention, rehabilitation, and performance optimization. Select Health will be the exclusive health insurance for the teams.
Intermountain Health is a leading nonprofit health system known for its sports medicine expertise. Their experienced care teams focus on treating complex injuries, helping athletes return safely to their activities. “This partnership reflects our commitment to community health and athlete excellence,” says Rob Allen, president of Intermountain Health.
As social media buzz around this partnership grows, many fans express excitement. Athletes and community members alike are eager to see how this integrated facility will enhance training and health standards.
This collaboration not only aims to uplift professional sports but also to improve community health overall. By fostering a culture of wellness and advanced care, Utah is well on its way to becoming a premier hub for sports and athletic performance.
