A Greenville, South Carolina police officer was shot while in his patrol car on Sunday. Officials are calling it an “ambush-style attack.” Fortunately, the officer was treated at a hospital and later released.
Sheriff Hobart Lewis characterized the incident as an ambush. After the shooting, police pursued a suspect, leading to a shootout where the suspect was fatally wounded. The man was identified as 42-year-old David William Lane from Greenville.
Currently, authorities have not disclosed a motive for the attack or the name of the officer involved. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is investigating, and local police are cooperating fully.
