Food Review Takes a Wild Turn
HOUSTON — What began as a simple food review for influencer Nina Santiago, also known as Nina Unrated, turned into a trip to the emergency room.
On a sunny Saturday in Houston, everything seemed perfect. Santiago and fellow YouTuber Patrick Blackwood were filming their latest review at Cuvée Culinary Creations. Then, chaos struck.
An SUV crashed straight through the restaurant’s glass wall, right into their table. “I was mid-toast, and then boom! Out of nowhere, the SUV came crashing in,” Santiago remembered.
Blackwood acted fast, pushing Santiago out of harm’s way. “I thought she was trying to hit us. It was so scary,” he said.
Although the reason for the crash remains unclear, security footage shows Blackwood’s immediate instinct was to protect Santiago. Both were quickly taken to the hospital, needing stitches and, in Patrick’s case, staples too.
Incredibly, just a day later, Santiago returned to the restaurant. “The food is amazing. I had to come back,” she said.
Dinner and a dramatic show, but not the kind they anticipated. In fact, they still went ahead and reviewed the food, posting about it online. “We wanted the chef to know we didn’t hold any hard feelings,” Santiago stated.
The support from fans around the world has been overwhelming. The duo, now a bit more cautious, plans to keep creating content. Going forward, they’ll likely avoid tables right next to the windows.
This incident highlights not just the unpredictable nature of food reviewing but also the bond formed between influencers and their audiences. According to a recent study, 70% of social media users appreciate authentic experiences shared by influencers. Santiago and Blackwood’s story exemplifies this connection, reminding us that real life can sometimes overshadow even the best planned moments.
As they continue their culinary adventures, they’ll always have this remarkable story to tell—one that adds an unexpected twist to their journey as influencers.
