Southeastern Louisiana University Volleyball Dominates Nicholls 3-0

The Southeastern Louisiana University volleyball team continued to impress, achieving its fifth consecutive win with a decisive 3-0 victory against Nicholls Saturday afternoon. This win marks their ongoing success in the Southland Conference, bringing their record to 10-4 overall and maintaining a perfect 6-0 at home this season.

In the match, Southeastern showcased a remarkable hitting percentage of .349, a season high. In contrast, Nicholls struggled with only a .011 hitting percentage, making it the lowest allowed by Southeastern in 2025.

Star player India Bennett stood out with 11 kills and seven blocks, contributing significantly to her team’s success. Alexis Logarbo and Kyra McKelvey added 8 and 7 kills respectively, while Ashley Richardson facilitated the offense with 21 assists. Lexi Gonzalez anchored the defense with a team-high 11 digs.

Nicholls’ Maelie Chupin led her team with nine kills, but the Colonels couldn’t compete with Southeastern’s strong performance. Isabella Padilla managed 10 assists for Nicholls, while Olivia Besson had the highest digs in the match with 14.

The match unfolded with Southeastern taking an early lead in the first set, spurred by a 7-0 run. Bennett and McKelvey each demonstrated power with four kills in that opening set, while Southeastern’s defense held Nicholls to a .000 hitting percentage.

The second set saw similar dominance as Southeastern established an 8-2 lead and finished strong with an 8-0 run. The Lady Lions outperformed their opponents, hitting .375 compared to Nicholls’ -.026.

The final set solidified their victory. Bennett excelled with six kills and a hitting percentage of .857. Southeastern also showcased their serving prowess with five aces in this set, three of which came from Mina Petrovic.

Next, the Lady Lions will travel to face Lamar at 6 p.m. on Thursday, kicking off their road games for the Southland Conference.
