Exciting Times for Southeastern Louisiana University Golf
The Southeastern Louisiana University men’s golf team is ready to kick off the 2025-26 season at the Grover Page Classic. This tournament will take place at The Links at Audubon in Memphis, Tennessee.
A total of 14 teams will compete on the par-71 course, which stretches for nearly 7,000 yards. The first two rounds start on Monday at 8:15 a.m., and the final round is set for Tuesday morning, beginning at 8:45 a.m. Fans can follow the live scoring provided by UT Martin through the golf schedule page on their website.
In the first round, SLU will play alongside rivals from the Southland Conference, including New Orleans, Nicholls, and East Texas A&M. Other teams in the tournament include host UTM, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, and several others, making for a competitive field.
Head coach Lawrence Allan expressed optimism heading into the tournament. He noted that some players showed great improvement over the summer and are ready to build on that momentum.
This season, two freshmen, David Marsh and Gavin Ingram, will make their college debut, joining experienced players Griffin Dorr, Landen East, and Noah Bumgarner in the starting lineup. Junior Colby Sullivan will also compete as an individual.
The Grover Page Classic is just the beginning. SLU has a busy fall schedule ahead with four more tournaments planned in the upcoming weeks, including the GMAC Invitational and the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate. Coach Allan emphasized the team’s experience and the potential for a climb in rankings if they perform well.
Interestingly, golf participation among college athletes has surged in recent years. According to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), golf programs have been growing, with increasing interest from students across the sports landscape. This boom highlights the growing appeal of golf, especially at the collegiate level.
