SpaceX Launches 28 Starlink Satellites into Low Earth Orbit in Stunning Predawn Mission!

On October 16, SpaceX launched 28 new Starlink satellites into low Earth orbit. This addition boosts their impressive satellite network, which now includes over 8,600 satellites, according to astronomer Jonathan McDowell.

The launch took place early Thursday morning at 5:27 a.m. EDT from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. Notably, this was the 130th Falcon 9 launch of the year, showing SpaceX’s commitment to expanding its satellite internet service.

The weather for launch was looking good. The 45th Weather Squadron gave a 95% chance of favorable conditions. The only concern was some clouds that could potentially interfere.

SpaceX used the same Falcon 9 first stage booster, known as B1095, for this mission. It had previously launched two Starlink missions earlier this year. The booster successfully returned to the drone ship, ‘Just Read the Instructions,’ about 8.5 minutes after takeoff. This marked the 138th landing on that ship and the 519th successful landing of a Falcon 9 booster overall.

As Starlink continues to grow, the service is gaining popularity worldwide. A recent survey by Pew Research found that nearly 50% of rural Americans are interested in satellite internet, especially in areas where traditional broadband is limited.

Experts suggest that as competition in the satellite internet market heats up, the benefits for consumers will increase. Services like Starlink could lead to better pricing and improved internet speeds, making it a game changer for many.
