Sources have revealed that production on the Sony/Marvel film Spider-Man: Brand New Day will take a week off after Tom Holland experienced a mild concussion on set in London. He is currently recovering, and filming is expected to resume on September 29.
Despite this temporary pause, the release date for the movie remains unchanged at July 31, 2026. Holland was taken to the hospital for evaluation but did not require admission. The incident happened during a stunt at Pinewood Studios, and thankfully, no one else was injured.
It’s worth noting that production has primarily taken place at Pinewood this month, rather than in Glasgow, where some earlier scenes were shot.
The film is in the hands of director Destin Daniel Cretton, known for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Producers Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige will also be returning. Zendaya is set to reprise her role as MJ, and new faces Sadie Sink and Liza Colón-Zayas will join the cast in unknown roles. Mark Ruffalo is also anticipated to return as The Hulk.
The collaboration between Sony and Marvel has proven lucrative, with Holland’s Spider-Man movies bringing in an impressive $3.93 billion globally since 2017. This partnership allows Spider-Man to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and vice versa, featuring characters like Iron Man and Doctor Strange in recent films.
The last Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: No Way Home, is notably the highest-grossing film for Sony, raking in $2.05 billion worldwide. It opened in December 2021 during the recovery phase of the pandemic, achieving a stunning $260.1 million domestically in its first weekend.
As the excitement builds for the next Spider-Man installment, fans are buzzing on social media. Discussions around the future of Tony Stark’s legacy and how new characters might fit into the MCU are gaining traction online, showing just how invested viewers are in the Spider-Man saga.
