During the tournament, Kennedy took matters into his own hands. He hit his first grand slam and a powerful 426-foot home run against Iowa, leading the Wildcats to a thrilling 15-6 victory. “I felt he was going to challenge me, and that’s exactly what happened,” he noted about facing a new pitcher.
K-State continued their momentum, overtaking UConn and later crushing Penn State with a staggering 24-5 score, where Kennedy knocked in a career-high seven RBIs. “We’re going to keep our foot on the gas,” he emphasized, showcasing the team’s resilient mindset.
