In Tulsa, families are getting extra help this holiday season from Food On The Move. They’re hosting a special food distribution Wednesday in northwest Tulsa to support those in need. This year is different, as demand has risen and many families are still feeling the effects of recent economic challenges.
Food On The Move teamed up with The Common Good to provide 300 bags filled with fresh produce and protein options. The distribution will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, giving families a little extra help after the last Food and Resource Festival this month.
CEO Tina Parkhill explained the situation: “Families are stretched thin, balancing holiday costs and the ongoing impact of the SNAP crisis.” She emphasized their goal to ease some of the pressure by supplying necessary food items for holiday gatherings.
The distribution kicks off at noon on December 23 at The Common Good’s Northwest Tulsa Hub on 49th West Avenue. No appointment is needed, but it’s a good idea to arrive early since supplies are limited.
