Spread the Love: Join Gadsden Regional Medical Center’s Peanut Butter Drive for East Alabama Food Bank

GADSEN, Ala. — Peanut butter is a superfood packed with nutrients, but it rarely finds its way to food banks. To change that, the Gadsden Regional Medical Center (GRMC) is launching its fourth annual Jars of Love food drive.

This initiative aims to collect peanut butter for the Etowah Community Food Bank, which directly supports local families in need. GRMC CEO Michael Hall emphasized the importance of this drive, noting that around 17% of adults and over 22% of children in the community face hunger. Hall stated, “Hunger can lead to serious health issues, and we want to do our part to help.”

The drive runs from March 2 to March 27, with a goal of gathering 1,500 jars of peanut butter and other nut butters. In addition to food donations, the hospital is accepting financial contributions, ensuring that every bit helps the Etowah Community Food Bank.

Peanut butter is not just a favorite spread; studies show it can be crucial in addressing food scarcity. A report from the Food Research and Action Center highlights that foods rich in protein, like peanut butter, are essential for building healthy bodies and maintaining energy.

You can drop off jars at the GRMC campus, in designated boxes placed in the cafeteria and human resources. Local businesses can also arrange for a pickup. Your support can make a real difference in the lives of those struggling to put food on the table.
