Baby’s on Broadway, a store in Little Falls and St. Cloud, is closing after its owner, Adelle Starin, pleaded guilty to wire fraud. She shared this news on the store’s Facebook page.
Starin admitted to a scheme worth $9 million, where she falsely filed claims to TRICARE, the military health program. When TRICARE started to reject her claims, she created a fake company called Sunshine Medical. Starin then approached lenders for loans, claiming they were for buying inventory through this ghost business. She submitted fake invoices to back up her claims, and lenders ended up advancing her millions.
Taking full responsibility, Starin thanked her staff and requested that the community show them understanding during this hard time. While no specific closing date has been set, Baby’s on Broadway plans to wind down in the coming weeks.
