Duke stays in the No. 2 spot after impressive victories over Miami and Florida State, despite missing guard Tyrese Proctor due to an injury. Houston moves up to No. 3 after winning matches against Texas Tech and Cincinnati. Tennessee reaches No. 4 thanks to Jahmai Mashack’s incredible last-second 3-pointer that secured a victory over Alabama.

Florida rounds out the top five but slipped two spots after a tough loss to Georgia, despite a win against Texas A&M.

St. John’s is making waves in college basketball. Under coach Rick Pitino, they moved up to No. 6, their highest ranking since the 1990-91 season. With a record of 26-4 and a Big East regular-season title clinched, they look set to make a strong NCAA tournament appearance after missing out since 2019.

This week, Michigan State remains at No. 8, joining Auburn and Duke as the only teams to hold their positions. On the other hand, Louisville had a fantastic week, jumping five spots to No. 14 after victories over Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh. Maryland also climbed, up three places after a close loss to Michigan State and a win over Penn State.

Texas A&M faced the toughest week, dropping ten spots after losing to both Vanderbilt and Florida, marking their fourth straight loss. In contrast, no other team in the poll fell more than two spots.

In terms of conferences, the SEC is thriving, with three teams in the top five and eight overall in the Top 25. The Big 12 also showcases its strength with three teams in the top ten. Meanwhile, the Big Ten has five ranked teams, the ACC and Big East have three and two respectively, and the American and West Coast conferences each have one ranked team.
