Star-Studded Arrival: Jeff Goldblum and David Tennant Shine at Early BAFTA Event!

This year’s Bafta film awards welcomed stars like Jeff Goldblum and David Tennant to the red carpet. Scottish actor Tennant arrived in style, wearing a sparkling black suit as he prepared to host the event for the second consecutive year. The ceremony takes place at the Royal Festival Hall in London.

Take That is set to perform their hit song “Greatest Day,” which is featured in the film Anora. Meanwhile, Goldblum, known for his role in the musical prequel to The Wizard of Oz, will play the piano during a special In Memoriam segment.

Cynthia Erivo, who stars as Elphaba, the Wicked Witch, is nominated for Best Actress, while her co-star, pop singer Ariana Grande, is up for Best Supporting Actress as Glinda. The nominations highlight the strong performances in this beloved musical.

On the red carpet, Bafta CEO Jane Millichip commented on the unpredictable nature of this year’s awards, stating it’s a “really wide open race” with no clear favorites. She also talked about the importance of foreign films and how UK audiences often embrace them, whether subtitled or dubbed. This year, films from a variety of countries are being recognized, including an Irish film called Kneecap.

The Spanish film Emilia Perez is nominated for an impressive 11 awards, featuring Karla Sofia Gascon in the lead role, along with co-stars Selena Gomez and Zoe Saldaña competing for Best Supporting Actress. However, Gascon won’t attend the ceremony due to previous social media controversies.

Millichip chose not to comment on Gascon’s situation, emphasizing that the event is about celebrating exceptional talent. The awards will also feature presenters like pop star Camila Cabello, actor Orlando Bloom, Scottish star James McAvoy, and actress Anna Kendrick.

Additionally, Harry Potter star Warwick Davis is set to receive the Bafta Fellowship, honoring his outstanding contributions to film and television. Notably, the Prince of Wales, who is the president of the academy, will not be attending this year’s event.

The 2025 Bafta film awards will be broadcast live at 7 PM on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK.
