Barbra Streisand, Jamie Lee Curtis, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and Jack Black are set to join the upcoming Lead With Love telethon, aired on KTLA 5. This event supports Project Angel Food, an organization that delivers meals to critically ill individuals in Los Angeles County. This year’s focus is on communities that experienced the devastating January wildfires.
Project Angel Food CEO Richard Ayoub emphasized the organization’s commitment, stating, “We are there before, during, and after every crisis.” He noted the rising needs due to inflation and uncertainty in federal support. “Thousands of volunteers and donors help us ensure no one faces illness or crisis alone. It’s truly inspiring.”
Returning hosts Eric McCormack and Jessica Holmes will be joined by five-time host Loni Love, along with a lineup of stars including Jack Black and Grammy winner Jennifer Holliday. Performers like Air Supply and Foreigner will also take the stage from KTLA’s Studio 6B.
A special feature will highlight Cameron Mathison, who visits Altadena, the area where he lost his home in the Eaton Fire. He meets Orna, a 90-year-old client of Project Angel Food living with Alzheimer’s, and her niece Aria, who also lost their home. This personal touch aims to show the real impact of the organization.
The telethon will air live on June 28 at 7 p.m. PT, sponsored by City National Bank, among others. With humanitarian efforts more crucial than ever, the Lead With Love telethon serves as a reminder that compassion shines through even in times of crisis.
In recent years, home delivery meal services like Project Angel Food have seen significant growth. According to a survey by the Pew Research Center, 70% of Americans agree that these services play a vital role in supporting those with health challenges. This sentiment underscores the importance of community support and resilience during tough times.
