Cassie Howard’s wedding dress on “Euphoria” is as bold as her character. In the third episode of Season 3, Cassie, portrayed by Sydney Sweeney, ties the knot with Nate Jacobs, played by Jacob Elordi. She dazzles in a custom gown by Wiederhoeft. The dress features a curved corset, a thigh-high slit, a voluminous train, a dramatic veil, and plenty of sparkle.
Designer Jackson Wiederhoeft called it “over the top,” reflecting Cassie’s personality. He described it as a “princess-like dream dress,” the largest one his brand has ever created, which took more than a year to finish. The gown includes around 160 yards of tulle, making transportation a logistical challenge!
The design process began with discussions between Wiederhoeft and the show’s costume designer, Natasha Newman-Thomas. They wanted to capture Cassie’s “bridezilla” spirit—someone who desires too much but owns it in a fabulous way. Wiederhoeft realized that if Cassie were a client, she would likely push for something even more extravagant.
The dress features Wiederhoeft’s signature Wasp corset, which retails for $4,500. Crafted mainly from lustrous Mikado silk, the gown has an embroidered underskirt with glass beads and a spectacular 20-foot detachable train.
This kind of design isn’t typically made for real-life weddings. “It’s a fictionalized version,” Wiederhoeft admits. “Real clients wouldn’t go for such an extravagant dress.”
The wedding scene itself was also lavish, featuring $50,000 worth of flowers. The bridesmaids donned pink dresses with bows, while Nate sported a classic tuxedo. Cassie’s style sparked chatter on social media, inspiring memes and discussions about bridal fashion trends.
Interestingly, Wiederhoeft’s designs have recently caught the eye of fans beyond “Euphoria.” Taylor Swift wore a mint green Wiederhoeft outfit at the iHeartRadio Music Awards, fueling speculation that he could design her wedding dress. As Swift prepares for her wedding to Travis Kelce, Wiederhoeft shared, “That would be a dream,” though he remains uncertain about any plans.
In a world where bridal fashion is constantly evolving, Cassie’s gown stands out as an emblem of over-the-top glamour. It invites viewers to reconsider their own ideas of what a wedding dress can be—perhaps something a bit wild and unforgettable.
