His career was cut short due to a serious neck injury that required surgery. Nonetheless, he made the most of the 112 games he played. After waiting 26 years for eligibility, the seniors committee finally recognized his talent, and he was voted in alongside other greats like Jared Allen and Antonio Gates.
One of the most touching parts of his induction was when he honored his brother, Shannon Sharpe. “I wanted my brother to see a hero at our dinner table, not outside,” Sterling said.
